A Parent's Guide to Keeping Kids Busy

When I woke up this morning, I couldn’t help but feel excitement and dread, knowing that spring break was fastly approaching. As a kid, I loved the week of spring break, but as a mom, let’s just say my feelings are a bit more complicated. 

As a mom, the last thing you want is for your child to sit on the couch and watch tv or play video games all day—so I’ve compiled a list of 82 awesome activities to do this week (indoor & outdoor) for your convenience!

At Home Indoor 

  1. Make your own sundaes

  2. Make your own pizzas

  3. Build a LEGO tower

  4. Play computer games

  5. Face painting

  6. Make a music video

  7. Watch a movie

  8. Do a craft project

  9. Re-do their bedrooms

  10. Playdate with friends

  11. Build a fort with blankets and pillows

  12. Have a family movie night (and don’t forget the popcorn!)

  13. Lay out sleeping bags for a living room slumber party

  14. Tackle household chores together (washing the car, giving the dog a bath, etc.)

  15. Play classic board games like Clue or Monopoly

  16. Reminisce by looking at old home videos or photos

  17. Test out a new recipe

  18. Host a fashion show to mix-and-match fun outfits

  19. Practice a new skill, whether it’s making paper airplanes, juggling, or doing magic tricks

  20. Plan an at-home spa day

  21. Have a photo shoot throughout the house

  22. Whip up some homemade slime

  23. Create paper bag puppets—then put on a puppet show for the whole family

  24. Play “floor is lava”

  25. Find a cool recipe and make it at home
