You May Recognize Yourself Here

The problem is often not that you don't understand yourself.

Many of the people we work with are insightful, capable, responsible, and accustomed to figuring things out. The frustration is that knowing the pattern has not necessarily stopped the pattern.

01

I understand the pattern. I still keep repeating it.

02

I don't trust myself unless someone else agrees with me.

03

I keep abandoning myself to keep the relationship.

04

Everyone can depend on me. I don't know how to stop carrying everything.

05

I can say no eventually, but usually only after I am exhausted or resentful.

06

My life looks successful, but I don't feel like myself inside it.

07

Something that happened a long time ago is still shaping what happens now.

08

The old version of my life no longer fits, but I don't know what comes next.

A Deeper Look

Different problems.
Similar architecture.

You may arrive because of a relationship, panic, burnout, grief, a career decision, perfectionism, or a crisis of faith. Underneath those experiences, we are often looking for the system that keeps recreating the same outcome.

What does your nervous system expect?
What do you believe you must do to remain safe, loved, or accepted?
What role have you learned to play?
What happens inside you when you choose differently?
Beneath the Presenting Problem
You learned how to function. Now the question is whether you can live without abandoning yourself.

The strategies that create a capable adult often make sense when you understand where they came from.

Being useful may have helped you belong. Achievement may have created safety. Staying agreeable may have protected relationships. Reading the room may have helped you avoid conflict. Controlling emotion may have helped you keep going.

Those strategies usually developed for a reason. The question is whether they are still serving the life you are trying to build.

A pattern becomes costly when a strategy built for one chapter of your life begins governing the next one.

What We May Work On

We work with the whole system, not only the symptom.

Therapy may begin with anxiety, a relationship, grief, burnout, a decision, or a major transition. The work often reaches further.

01
Relationships & Attachment
Reassurance seeking, overgiving, fear of abandonment, emotional distance, betrayal, recurring relationship patterns, and learning to remain yourself while deeply connected to another person.
02
Identity & Self-Trust
Learning what you want, trusting your own perception, reducing self-abandonment, making decisions without excessive external validation, and separating who you are from what you produce.
03
Past Experiences & the Nervous System
Developmental trauma, attachment injuries, betrayal, panic, shutdown, hypervigilance, painful memories, and responses that continue long after the original experience has passed.
04
Boundaries & Over-Responsibility
Caretaking, rescuing, difficulty saying no, guilt when disappointing others, chronic responsibility, and relationships built around usefulness.
05
Performance & Pressure
Perfectionism, impostor feelings, fear of evaluation, high-functioning anxiety, panic under pressure, and the experience of competence disappearing precisely when it matters most.
06
Grief & Major Transitions
Divorce, loss, career shifts, parenthood, leadership transitions, relocation, success that no longer feels satisfying, and the space between an old identity and whatever comes next.
07
Meaning, Faith & Purpose
Questions of calling, identity, faith, church experiences, spiritual conflict, purpose, and what a meaningful life looks like when old answers no longer feel sufficient.

Therapy Should Have Enough Time for the Work

The work does not have to stop just as we reach the thing that matters.

Extended sessions are not an upgrade or add-on. They are part of how Simply Midori practices therapy.

Most individual therapy sessions are approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Meaningful psychological work does not always fit neatly inside a traditional 50-minute hour.

More time allows you and your therapist to settle into the work, understand what is happening beneath the immediate problem, follow what emerges, and reach a more natural stopping point.

A Shared Clinical Lens

Insight matters.
But insight alone is rarely enough.

Our therapists bring different training, perspectives, and clinical strengths to the work. What we share is a commitment to understanding change at more than one level. Depending on what you need, therapy may involve the nervous system, emotion, past experiences, beliefs and meaning, identity, relationships, behavior, or several of these at once.

01

Stabilize

Create enough safety and regulation for meaningful work to happen.

02

See the Pattern

Understand what keeps happening, when it activates, and what function it serves.

03

Process

Work with unresolved emotion, painful experiences, attachment injuries, and protective responses.

04

Reconstruct

Revisit the beliefs, meanings, roles, and identities that help keep the old pattern intact.

05

Practice

Create change through new choices, relationships, boundaries, behaviors, and repetition.

Faith & Spirituality

Faith does not have to be separated from the rest of you.

You will never be asked to choose between taking your psychology seriously and taking your faith seriously.

For clients who want faith integrated into therapy, we can help connect you with a therapist whose approach allows room for Christian faith, spiritual questions, church experiences, calling, doubt, grief, forgiveness, identity, and the ways religious beliefs have shaped relationships and the self.

Faith is never assumed or imposed.

For some clients, spirituality becomes an important part of therapy. For others, it does not enter the room at all.

Our Clinical Team

The relationship matters.

Simply Midori is a team of licensed therapists with different backgrounds, clinical strengths, areas of focus, and ways of working.

What we share is a belief that symptoms rarely exist in isolation. We look at the experiences, relationships, nervous-system responses, beliefs, behaviors, identity, and meaning that may be working together to maintain a pattern.

Finding the right therapist matters. You do not need to figure that out on your own.

How Individual Therapy Works

Begin by understanding what is actually happening.

Your initial session gives you and your therapist space to understand what brought you in and begin identifying the larger pattern.

We will begin with what brought you in, what feels stuck, what you have already tried, and what you want to be different. You do not need to arrive with the perfect explanation. Figuring that out is part of the work.

Common Questions

Before we begin.

How long are individual therapy sessions?
Most sessions are approximately 90 to 120 minutes. Extended sessions are part of Simply Midori's clinical philosophy. They give you and your therapist more room to understand what is happening, work beyond the surface of the presenting problem, and reach a more natural stopping point.
What happens in the complimentary initial session?
The initial session is a full clinical session, not a sales call. You and your therapist can begin with what brought you in, what feels stuck, what you have already tried, and what you want to be different. You can also determine whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. There is no obligation to continue.
How do I know which therapist to choose?
You do not have to make that decision alone. Stephanie can learn what you are looking for, answer practical questions, and help identify which therapist may be the strongest fit for your needs. You can also meet our therapists here →
What if I am not sure therapy is what I need?
That is okay. Simply Midori works with individuals through therapy, executive coaching, personal advisory, and other psychologically informed engagements. You can begin with Stephanie or explore Individual Work →
What is the difference between therapy and executive coaching?
Individual therapy is clinical care focused on psychological, emotional, relational, behavioral, and other mental health concerns. Executive coaching is a separate non-therapy engagement focused primarily on present-day leadership, communication, decisions, performance, role, and organizational impact. Explore Executive Coaching →
What is Personal Advisory?
Personal Advisory is another way to work with Simply Midori when the primary need is not psychotherapy or executive coaching. It is designed for psychologically informed work around direction, identity, major life decisions, transition, meaning, and the architecture of what comes next. Explore Personal Advisory →
Do you work with couples?
Yes. Couples therapy is a separate clinical service focused specifically on the relationship and the patterns occurring between partners. Explore Couples Therapy →
Can faith be part of therapy?
Yes, when you want it to be. For clients who want faith included, we can help connect you with a therapist whose approach allows room for Christian faith, spiritual questions, church experiences, calling, doubt, grief, identity, and other matters of faith. Faith is never assumed or imposed.
Do you accept insurance?
Simply Midori is a private-pay practice. HSA and FSA payments are accepted, and superbills can be provided for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance company.
