Your life may be working.
But something in you isn't.
Individual psychotherapy for high-capacity adults who want to understand and change the patterns beneath the problem.
Your first session is complimentary. It is a full clinical session, not a sales consultation.
The problem is often not that you don't understand yourself.
Many of the people I work with are insightful, capable, responsible, and accustomed to figuring things out. The frustration is that knowing the pattern has not necessarily stopped the pattern.
I understand the pattern. I still keep repeating it.
I don't trust myself unless someone else agrees with me.
I keep abandoning myself to keep the relationship.
Everyone can depend on me. I don't know how to stop carrying everything.
I can say no eventually, but usually only after I am exhausted or resentful.
My life looks successful, but I don't feel like myself inside it.
Something that happened a long time ago is still shaping what happens now.
The old version of my life no longer fits, but I don't know what comes next.
Different problems.
Similar architecture.
You may arrive because of a relationship, panic, burnout, grief, a career decision, perfectionism, or a crisis of faith. Underneath those experiences, we are often looking for the system that keeps recreating the same outcome.
The strategies that create a capable adult often make sense when you understand where they came from.
Being useful may have helped you belong. Achievement may have created safety. Staying agreeable may have protected relationships. Reading the room may have helped you avoid conflict. Controlling emotion may have helped you keep going.
Those strategies usually developed for a reason. The question is whether they are still serving the life you are trying to build.
A pattern becomes costly when a strategy built for one chapter of your life begins governing the next one.
We work with the whole system, not only the symptom.
Therapy may begin with anxiety, a relationship, grief, burnout, a decision, or a major transition. The work often reaches further.
The work does not have to stop just as we reach the thing that matters.
Most therapy is organized around a traditional 50-minute hour. Individual sessions at Simply Midori are generally closer to 90–120 minutes.
That gives us room to settle in, understand what is happening beneath the immediate problem, work with what emerges, and bring the session to a meaningful stopping point rather than automatically ending because the clock reaches 50 minutes.
Insight matters.
But insight alone is rarely enough.
Individual work is integrative. We look at what is happening across the nervous system, emotion, beliefs and meaning, identity, relationships, and behavior, then work at the level where the pattern is actually being maintained.
Stabilize
Help the nervous system become regulated enough that change is possible.
See the Pattern
Identify what keeps happening, when it activates, and what function it serves.
Process
Work with unresolved emotion, painful experiences, attachment injuries, and protective responses.
Reconstruct
Change the beliefs, meanings, roles, and identities that keep the old system intact.
Practice
Install change through different choices, relationships, boundaries, and repetition.
Faith does not have to be separated from the rest of you.
You will never be asked to choose between taking your psychology seriously and taking your faith seriously.
For clients who want it included, therapy can make room for Christian faith, spiritual questions, church experiences, calling, doubt, grief, forgiveness, identity, and the ways religious beliefs have shaped relationships and the self.
Faith is never assumed or imposed.
For some clients, spirituality becomes an important part of the work. For others, it does not enter the room at all.
Begin by understanding what is actually happening.
The first session gives us space to understand what brought you in, begin identifying the deeper pattern, and determine what kind of work is most likely to help.
You do not need to arrive with the perfect explanation for what is wrong. Figuring that out is part of the work.
Joshua Doumani
Joshua works with adults whose outward capability can make it easy for others to miss the complexity of what is happening underneath.
His approach integrates evidence-based psychotherapy with trauma-informed and attachment-focused work, behavioral science, identity, the nervous system, meaning, and the realities of leadership, relationships, achievement, and major life transitions.
The goal is not simply to help you function better inside the same pattern. It is to understand what the pattern has been protecting, resolve what continues to drive it, and create enough internal freedom to respond differently when the old system gets activated.
